Happy Holidays!

As you may have noticed we’ve been kind of quiet the last 2 weeks and taken a bit of a break for the holidays. We’ll be back with some new updates next week as we get back into the swing of things and head into the new year.

Remember to check out our forum and join in as we continue to put together our recap of our year with comics for the 2008 edition of the Dollar Bin Awards. The awards gala will take place next month so the nominations and voting process won’t last much longer so don’t delay in making your choices!

You can also always give us feedback by leaving us a voicemail on the DB hotline at #864-335-9148. You can call to give us love, give us grief, share what you’ve read, what we should be reading or just to wish everyone a happy Festivus.

Happy Holidays everybody (which ever ones you might celebrate) thanks for another great year at The Dollar Bin and we wish you all a Happy New Year!

Iron Gelatomettista - Frankenstein!

I’ve completely ripped this desciption from Ben’s blog:

Its “like Iron Chef but with less food, less English subtitles and less blatantly sexual shots of women’s lips eating fishy things rather slowly. It’s with drawing instead.”

“…we get one hour to do our best before you guys judge the results.

Voting ends at Monday, 5:00pm PST, so get over there!  I’m not forcing any one to vote, but it looks like fun. You know who I voted for, but I did give it legitamate thought first.

Yap Kun Rong is a Tokyo based Japanese illustrator freelancing as a concept artist. His incredible paintings on CGPortfolio are great sources for inspiration for lighting, color and movement.

NPR's Best Graphic Novels of 2008

NPR release its list, Best Graphic Novels of 2008 and I must say I agree for the most part.  My list may be a little bigger and I have yet to read a couple of them.  The only real issue I have with the list is Local and Skyscrapers of the Midwest are collections of individually release comics.  I supposed since they both have a defined beginning and end they are simply graphic novels that were released in parts.  Some day I’ll really figure that difference out.  Until then I totally recommend going over this list and picking up these books.

I first read about this on Twitter from Brian Wood.
