Batman: The Brave & The Bold & The Musical!

The Caped Crusader faces a new villain in the upcoming Batman: The Brave And The Bold episode, Mayhem of the Music Meister. Although many regulars from the show sing in the episode, it features the voices of Grey DeLisle as Black Canary and Neil Patrick Harris as the Music Meister, a menacing villain who is able to exert powerful mind-control through song. The sneak preview at Comic-Con this past July got a huge response and now after much anticipation, the episode will finally air Friday, October 23 at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT on Cartoon Network.

As an awesome follow up, on Saturday, October 24, New Line Records will release Batman: The Brave & The Bold: Mayhem of the Music Meister soundtrack digitally on iTunes and other digital music outlets. Amazon.com will offer fans the exclusive option of purchasing either a hard or digital copy of the soundtrack. The soundtrack will feature all five original songs from the episode as well as the highly sought Batman: The Brave And The Bold theme.

Aquaman's Lament

Listeners to our podcasts might know that we occasionally like to make fun of Aquaman. Readers of our Quick Hits section might know that I have been known to enjoy a good superhero theme song. Perhaps with this information in mind, Mike Epstein from the band The Motion Sick sent us this link to a music video for their song Aquaman’s Lament.

Another tune of theirs you might want to give a listen to is 30 Lives, which is based on using the Konami Code to spend 30 lives with a loved one. Not only is it included in all of the recent Dance Dance Revolution games but the video has also aired on networks like Fuse, MuchMusic, and MTV Latin America. And if you’re interested in even more from The Motion Sick, check out their website where you can download a bunch of their music for FREE.

But something interesting I discovered while googling various Aquaman related pages for this post is more than one rocking tune titled Aquaman’s Lament. The second I found was by Mark Aaron James and it also has a You Tube video so in the interest of fairness I’ll share it as well. Let the debate begin as to which musical tribute to DC’s King of the Sea is indeed the best!

People used to sing about Metamorpho

Metamorpho was cooler in the 70’s. Not that he isn’t a good character in the modern DCU, he just isn’t always given the personality and pizzazz that many remember from days gone by. If you love the Wednesday Comic’s Metamorpho feature by Mike Allred and Neil Gaiman you kind of know what I am talking about but you still aren’t getting the full effect.

Luckily for you, there is a song that can showcase exactly what I mean.

For more on the origins of this song check out this groovy site and this awesome page too.
