Toys for Tots at Richard's Comics

Exerpt from the Richard’s Comic and Collectables Newsletter:

This is the time of year where you can really make a difference and this charity is a wonderful way to help the local area. This is a time where there will be some kids in our very own community that might not have a good Christmas. There are a lot of different groups collecting money/items to help these folks, but I believe this is one of the best ideas. This directly helps kids in our local area have a Merry Christmas that might not have had one otherwise. Though I, of course, have toys that can be purchased at the store for the charity, you are welcome to bring toys from anywhere to be donated. Remember the marine’s rules are the toys are to be New and Unwrapped.

To help encourage you to make a donation I am offering a chance to win some great prizes. To participate drop off your donation at the store, prior to 7pm on December 5th, we will then give you a raffle ticket for the prizes. The drawing will happen at the close of business on December 5th, and the winners will be notified on the following Monday.

Prizes to be awarded are:

Grand Prize – Star Wars Snow Trooper Kotobukiya Vinyl Kit

2nd Prize – Wizard X-Men Masterpiece HC or Marvel Spider-man Encyclopedia HC (2 winners)

3rd Prize - Star Wars Clone Wars Starter Set – Miniatures Game (3 winners)

Also on December 5th please drop by the store and meet our Special Guests:

Chrissie Zullo’s cover to Vertigo’s new Cinderella mini-series is in shops across the country this week, and to celebrate she’ll be appearing at Richard’s Comics and Collectables this Saturday. If you are or can be in the area of his great shop in Greenville this Saturday, drop in to meet her and have your issue of Cinderella: From Fabletown With Love #1 signed. She will also have some sketchbooks and prints for sale and who knows you might even be able to get a sketch from her.

CINDERELLA: FROM FABLETOWN WITH LOVE #1

Written by Chris Roberson
Art by Shawn McManus
Cover by Chrissie Zullo

When supernatural artifacts from the Homelands begin surfacing in the modern world, it falls to Cinderella, Fabletown’s best kept (and best dressed) secret agent to stop the illegal trafficking. But can Cindy foil the dark plot before Fabletown and its hidden, exiled inhabitants are exposed once and for all? And how does her long lost Fairy Godmother factor into the equation?

Free Comic Book Day 2009 at Richard's

The Dollar Bin staff has a warm spot in their cold hearts for Free Comic Book Day at Richard’s Comics and Collectables. Not only because Richard and his staff are such good supporters of our site but also because FCBD 2007 at Richard’s was our first attempt at covering an event. And even though Richard banished us to the basement that lovely spring day, we still look back on it very fondly.

So what began in 2007 for us continues to 2009 (and we hope beyond) as we will begin our coverage of Free Comic Book Day this year at Richard’s as well. And as usual, he and his staff have a great day planned for the fine people of Greenville, SC.

Great creators (and friends of the Dollar BinJ Chris Campbell and Bradd Parton will be joined by talented artists Tracy Yardley and Gina Biggs.

The Star Wars 501st will be onhand and in full costume and JD the balloon man will be at the ready to create awesome treats for the kids. With all of that plus free comics, give aways and much more it is sure to be a great day. So if you are in the area follow our lead and spend part of your day with us and the rest of the guests at Richard’s Comic and Collectables.
