Coming Soon: Dracula The Company of Monsters

This August, BOOM! Studios debuts a new ongoing horror series sure to make your blood run cold, DRACULA: THE COMPANY OF MONSTERS. Kurt Busiek, along with acclaimed writer Daryl Gregory and sensational artist Scott Godlewski, take you through the dark corridors of the corporate American boardroom and show you vampires aren’t the only kinds of bloodsuckers!

“Dracula’s a character who’s always fascinated me,” says series creator Kurt Busiek, “and getting a chance to build something firmly rooted in Dracula’s real-world (and Stoker-novel) history, but with a very modern edge, is the kind of creative challenge I love. It’s the world’s greatest vampire against the corporate world — and there’s no easy way to tell who’s the real villain, and who’s the hero. I’m thrilled to be working with Daryl, Scott and BOOM! on this. Putting it together feels like the early days of working on CONAN, and I think the results are going to be a real treat for readers.”

DRACULA: THE COMPANY OF MONSTERS tells the story of a powerful, predatory corporation that acquires a valuable asset…Dracula! They think they own him, but no one can own the Son of the Dragon. There’s a monster in their midst that puts Hannibal Lecter to shame—and he plans to gain his freedom in blood.

It’s bloodsuckers vs. bloodsucker, as Busiek brings an incredibly modern spin to the Dracula mythos. Joining Busiek is award-winning author Daryl Gregory (PANDEMONIUM) and rising star artist Scott Godlewski (CODEBREAKERS). The epic journey starts here, so don’t miss the debut issue of DRACULA: THE COMPANY OF MONSTERS, the next breakout ongoing series from BOOM! Studios! Featuring covers by fan-favorite THE NOCTURNALS artist Dan Brereton, and Ron Salas!

“The collective raw storytelling talent between Kurt and Daryl is boundless,” said BOOM! Studios Managing Editor Matt Gagnon. “Readers should be prepared for a cracking horror story that’s intense, arresting, and explores the nuances between good and evil. Dracula is back from the dead, and in very good hands!”

DRACULA: THE COMPANY OF MONSTERS is written by Kurt Busiek (SUPERMAN, AVENGERS) and Daryl Gregory (PANDEMONIUM) with art by red-hot artist Scott Godlewski (CODEBREAKERS). Issue one ships with two covers by Dan Brereton and Ron Salas in a 50/50 split and a 1-in-10 incentive cover. For more information about this and many other exciting titles check out BOOMStudios.com

Preview - Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep: Dust to Dust

This May, BOOM! Studios and Electric Shepherd bring you the debut of the authorized prequel to Philip K. Dick’s sci-fi masterpiece DO ANDROID DREAM OF ELECTRIC SHEEP? — the publishing event of the year is DO ANDROIDS DREAM OF ELECTRIC SHEEP? DUST TO DUST!

Written by Chris Roberson, a John W. Campbell Award-nominee and writer of DC’s hit mini-series CINDERELLA: FROM FABLETOWN WITH LOVE, DO ANDROIDS DREAM OF ELECTRIC SHEEP? DUST TO DUST will feature spectacular interior art by 48 STRON and STATUS 7 artist Robert Adler. The prequel makes a great companion to BOOM! Studios and Electric Shepherd’s Eisner Award-nominated DO ANDROIDS DREAM OF ELECTRIC SHEEP? comic series or can be read completely on it’s own.

DO ANDROIDS DREAM OF ELECTRIC SHEEP? DUST TO DUST answers the question of who hunted androids before Rick Deckard. Taking place immediately after World War Terminus ends, the problems with artificial life — androids — become apparent. The government decides that the androids must be hunted down — but who will do the dirty work? Two men are assigned: Malcolm Reed, a “special” human with the power to feel others’ emotions, and Charlie Victor who’s the perfect man for the job… or is he? What secret does Victor hide? All the while, Samantha Wu, a Stanford biologist, fights to save the last of the living animals.

“We’ve been thrilled with the DO ANDROIDS DREAM OF ELECTRIC SHEEP? series, and are excited to expand this world in DUST TO DUST,” said Isa Dick Hackett of Electric Shepherd Productions. “Chris Roberson’s original prequel story reflects and builds on the themes of Philip K. Dick’s original work, and BOOM! has assembled a fantastic team of artists to realize this vision.”

DO ANDROIDS DREAM OF ELECTRIC SHEEP? DUST TO DUST explores Philip K. Dick’s universe to a degree no one has dared before,” says BOOM! Studios Marketing Director Chip Mosher. “This all new story is set in a world familiar to Philip K. Dick fans, but make no mistake this is a much different beast. Combine a city, struggling to return from global war, and a hunt for an enemy that could be anyone, and you have just a taste of DO ANDROIDS DREAM OF ELECTRIC SHEEP? DUST TO DUST.”

Originally solicited for March shipping, DO ANDROIDS DREAM OF ELECTRIC SHEEP? DUST TO DUST #1 is currently being order adjusted with orders due from retailers April 30th with a final release date of May 26th. Please contact your local comic shop to reserve your copy today. IDWs Library of American Comics Website

Fans of classic newspaper strips now have a website dedicated to offering everything they want to know about all new and upcoming releases from IDW’s Eisner nominated imprint, The Library of American Comics.

“We often come across backstory items in our research that don’t necessarily make it into the books,” Creative Director Dean Mullaney said. “We’ll post them here so this website becomes an ephemeral addendum to the Library’s releases.”

The new website features a blog written by Mullaney and Associate Editor Bruce Canwell, offering behind the scenes production notes, links to reviews and interviews, plus plenty of web exclusives. The website also contains a convenient “Buy Now” button, and will soon be adding a “Search inside” feature.

Since it was established in 2007, The Library of American Comics has been nominated for a total of six Eisner Awards, including two this year for “Best Archival Collection/Project-Strips.” Bringing Up Father collects the most famous of George McManus’s storylines and was edited by Canwell, while Bloom County: The Complete Library Volume One begins the first comprehensive reprinting of Berkeley Breathed’s 1980s classic strip and was edited by Scott Dunbier.
