Great show! Here's my top five-
Murdering Bastards
1. The Joker- 'Nuff said.
2. Tetsuo Shima (Akira)- This guy slaughtered 3/4 of Japan, all the armies of the world, and three of his best friends with little else but his mind, not caring about what he was doing the entire time. He's also a self proclaimed sociopath.
3. Grendel (aka Hunter Rose)- He didn't just kill people, he toyed with and used them.
4. Ozymandious (Watchmen)- He destroyed New York in just to create world peace.
5. Anton Arcane
Female Characters
1. Catwoman- The ultimate femme fetale
2. Julie Winters (The Maxx)
3. Death (The Sandman)
4. Barbara Gordan
5. Joyce Brabner (American Splendor)
My top 5 favorite female characters
In no particular order
Tara Chace (Queen & Country)
Deena Pilgrim (Powers)
She-Hulk (She-Hulk)
Miss Misery (Sleeper)
Amanda Waller (Suicide Squad) I'm thinking of the Wall as she was portrayed in the classic run of Suicide Squad from the late 80s
Honorable Mentions
Liberty Belle (All-Star Squadron)
Storm, Rogue (X-Men) in both cases I'm thinking back to when I first read X-men in the early 80s (#150-175); the era when Storm went punk and Rogue first joined the team
Agent 355 (Y: The Last Man)
Hawkgirl - as portrayed in the Justice League/JLU cartoon
