Since you guys invited listeners to chime in on what we're reading these days in the comments section, I thought I'd pop in. I just finish the final issue of Fantagraphic's normally excellent anthology "MOME". There's some great stuff in the last book, #22, including Joe Lambert, Charles Forsman, Eleanor Davis (her piece is my favorite) and bunches and bunches of other great slightly under the radar indie cartoonists. MOME was a real landmark anthology and I'm sad to see it go although for the last several issues it's been rather stuffy and a bit dull.

I read Ed Brubaker's Criminal mini-series "The Last of the Innocent" and enjoyed it. They do some pretty neat Archie and the gang from Riverdale stuff in the middle of a story about a dude murdering his wife that was cheeky and fun.

Finally, I'm going to continue to sing the praises of Jaime Hernandez and the new Love and Rockets stories. I mean this absolutely and for real, the last two issues, #3 and #4, have been to best two consecutive issues of any comic published ever by anyone on Earth ever. No joke. The whole of comic book history. The very best. If you do not read Jaime's Locas stories in your lifetime and you read comics during that lifetime, then you have cheated your ass.

Anyhow, I'm looking forward to getting Pope Hats #2 and I'll check out that Argones book as well. I've always had a soft spot for ol' Sergio.
