Watchmen Album ArtWith the live action movie being released next year you may find yourself thinking you should read the Watchmen again. But what if you could watch the Watchmen on your screen? Fortunately you can thanks to Warner Brothers deciding to release the Watchmen in what’s being called a motion comic. Available in iTunes as a paid download you can get the Watchmen with narrating, simple 2D animation and effects. The first episode is 25 minutes long and very entertaining.
This is not the first time I’ve seen a motion comic. I bought a DVD a few years ago that contained the Hulk relaunch that was drawn by John Romita Jr. as a motion comic. Complete with narrating, sound effects and simple 2D animation of the original artwork from the comics.
I really enjoy watching these as they seem to bridge a gap from paper to screen. Since iTunes is selling the Watchmen I’m able to watch it on my computer and take it with me on my iPhone. A season pass is $19.99 or you can checkout the first episode for $1.99.

I gave this a peek on Kris' I-Phone this weekend and I thought that first episode looked really cool.
It looks really cool.
Not crazy about the single voice actor for each character though, but otherwise it's really good.
I don't mind the single voice actor because that is how you usually listen to audiobooks. The Hulk DVD I mentioned does use multiple actors so it is nice, but I understand a studio only using one talent. Using one actor/talent for audio recording for a 15 - 30 second radio commercial is around $400 - $800. I'm not good with math but I would imagine multiple actors for audio recording would get expensive. Then again, at $19.99 for a season pass you'd think DC could afford it. Especially, with the release of the movie next year.
