Aw, I really enjoyed this one! Paul Chadwick sounds almost exactly like James Urbaniak doing his Crumb impersonation from "American Splendor". That kinda delighted me. Concrete is a book I've passed over for years and years for some reason although I always kinda figured in my heart I might like it. Anyhow, this show will for sure give me the impetus to finally pick it up and give it a well deserved read. Thanks guys!
I really enjoyed talking to Paul. He is quite possibly the nicest creator I have ever gotten to meet. Ted was supposed to be in on this but he was "sick" and couldn't get make it. Pick up Concrete and read it and love it. When people talk about indy creator-owned books that should be supported this is right at the top. BTW, I love Paul's voice, it reminds me of Bob Ross from that painting show on PBS. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3RYOawNITs
As for Henry's comment, I'm reminded of my first term in art school when a girl told me I reminded her of Robert Crumb -- in appearance. The next week I got my first contact lenses and put away those horn-rims.
Thanks for the kind interview.
For convenience's sake, here's my blog .
Finally, you got Paul out of his shell.
Great interview, scary how similar we are.
=s=
good interview, guys. thanks.
Can't tell you how much I regret missing this interview, but Joel...you killed it. Great job.
Paul really opened up and his love for the character is really apparent. I'm hoping there's always an audience for Concrete because it is truly a great series.
Now that I have Ted's seal of approval I can rest happily. Now if I could just get my copy of Concrete #2 back...............
enjoyed this interview, good job guys!
I'm glad you enjoyed it. He is honestly one of the nicest people I've ever interviewed.
