Great interview, gents! I hate my own guts for not being able to be a part of this one. Gives good insight into what it takes to run something as big as CAF.
I hate your guts for missing it too. The interview would have been an 11 with you there.
Another great show guys, really enjoying these art collecting ones.
I especially loved Bill's comment about the blank pages in your portfolio. I've had that exact experience. I started buying original pages a couple of years ago and framed them all on the wall. Recently I purchased two more pages and don't have room on my walls for them, now I have a really really empty looking portfolio.
Just voted for the awards and I gotta say I don't read anything that you guys read I'm pretty sure I guessed on 80% of the categories.
- Kevin Johnson
P.S. Where the hell is the category that includes Usagi Yojimbo as one of the answers?
Should have been there for the nomination process Kevin. We could have used a little more variety in a few of the categories.
What page of Crogan's Vengeance did you get? I have page #174. I was going to get it framed over the Summer but never got around to doing it. I had Chris send me a signature plate for it and I'm also including a print of the cover and a 4 x 6 sketch of an older Crogan to go along with the page. Should go good with my Walt Simonson Thor in my new studio/study!
Great show!! I'll have to put my stuff up on Comic Art Fans. The site is pretty awesome.
a) Holy smokes its Terry! Where's that guy been, huh?
b) I have page 37. What is a signature plate?
It's a strip of bristol paper that he signed to fit a space in the frame. For example I believe I had him sign a 1" x 6" piece to match up with the framing sequence I have set up. The end result looks really nice. I have the page on the left (11x17) and then I have the cover (9 x 6), the 4 x 6 illustration and then the signature plate (1 x 6) on the right side of the page. Throw in 3 - 1" spaces between the objects on the right and you have your 17" height.
