As much love was doled out for the Destroyer, no one else seemed to notice that he fucked all the product placement. The cars. The 7-11. All of it gone by the mighty beams of the Destroyer.

Joel totally needs to ease up on the "these are gods" bit. That shit wouldn't fly mainly because Marvel didn't want to offend the religious right, who also buys movie tickets. They're not Norse gods in this movie. They're more akin to the New Gods, which clears up both the "gods" bit and the "racist" bit. Stop it.

The Infinity Gauntlet and the Eye of Agamotto were both in the trophy room, I think.

Also Walt Simonson was in the diner. Yes, I'm commenting as I listen.

Saw it in 3D on and Imax theatre. Fun movie. Not my fav Marvel movie but really entertaining. When he started spinning the hammer... they had me.

Terence may have a point that I went overboard with the point that they are gods but I think that Adam edited down the portion where I said I didn't like the interpretation of the Norse Gods as aliens and should have left it "mystical". However, if the religious right wanted to be offended the explanations they had of the gods in Thor opens the door to consider all "gods' to be aliens in the the Marvel movie universe.

Yeah I was worried that the hammer spinning would look clumsy or goofy...ended up being a great effect!

Just saw it in 3D over the weekend...totally unnecessary. Felt like they added everything in a rush to get it in theaters to turn some extra bucks. (2 tickets, 2 drinks & popcorn set me back $42)
A fun film otherwise. I'm a Thor fan from way back and left rather happy with how they handled things. Thor flying looked pretty ridiculous though (especially around Asgard). Great casting for Loki, the Warriors Three, Loki and yes, even Heimdall. (Elba is the man - And for the record it's HEIM dall...not HIM dall...all the mispronunciations drove me crazy while listening to this! ;)
Wasn't overly impressed with Hopkins as Odin or with Sif. Hemsworth was a bit stiff as Thor, but ended up enjoying his take.
As for the Norse Gods angle...they sure pushed it in their advertising. Check out the movie posters "God" and "Immortal" are up front. They laid back in the movie itself though, which is fine by me.
Anyone ever notice the volume increase when the Destroyer was onscreen? MUCH louder than anything else in the move...as it should be. Love that it didn't go out like a punk. The Destroyer Armor is supposed to be nearly unstoppable.
Answering the call out - there was some Kirby stuff present throughout the movie, not as direct as the Ultimates influence, but in the backgrounds and overall design he was there. My Dad went with me (who bought those issues as they came out) and he was happy with it. I'm happy with the love they showed Walt Simonson in the movie and the credits.
