Discussion: Comics on the Couch - Lists!
Tuesday, April 12, 2011 Filed in Discussions
Recently over on CBR and Robot 6 (which we for some reason treat like Vertigo to DC) some interesting lists have been posted. First, Robot 6 posted the nominees for this years Eisner Awards. Lastly, over on CBR they put together 2 fan voted Best 125 Artists/Writers. Adam and Shawn discuss. Also, CONGRATS Ben Towle!!!

I was surprised Shawn missed out on naming the most exciting attendee at SPX this year: Chester Brown!! That's big news. Also Jim Woodring will be there so, hey, WOW!, on that too.
I can only help you with one of your mystery names, Ernie Bushmiller is the iconic creator of Nancy and generally regarded as one of the greatest strip cartoonists of all time.
Also, sorry to cry shame, but you guys should be more familiar with the 40-Watt. It's a legendary club, much like the Cat's Cradle in Chapel Hill. When I was a teenager (and reverently listened to REM on the regular) it was a place I dreamed about visiting. I'm really excited about being there for FLUKE.
Cry shame all you want. I am from the Baltimore/DC area where we have real clubs.
Also, I think Shawn mentioned Chester Brown in the uncut loooong version that will be going up on the members section.
We missed A LOT in this compressed edition. Another name I should have mentioned that didn't make the Adaptation cut was Rob Venditti for the NYT Best Seller Percy Jackson adaptation he did!
Great show! I do have to say that in my opinion Richard Corben should have been at least in the top ten of the list (maybe in the 7-10 area). The only reason most people don't like him is because he doesn't do many superhero work, so they ignore him.
Oh, and Marshall Rogers is an artist that worked in comics during the 70s. His most remembered work is that he did the "Joker Fish" storyline in the Batman books.
Man, Mitch beat me to the Marshall Rogers info! Oh and say what you want but Chew is still overrated. I think Adam needs to do another skype show for me and Terence to discuss Chew.
Aw, shucks, thanks for the plug! Lists are so much fun!
