In which Shawn looks at the New Releases and lets you know which books she is most excited about!
1) Beasts of Burden/Hellboy One-Shot
The dialogue in this issue was great. I really hope that this isn’t the only team-up between Hellboy and the animals of Burden Hill. The interaction and witty banter was awesome! Evan Dorkin and Mike Mignola did an amazing job with this story and Jill Thompson’s art is incredible, as always. This is a great introduction to either Beasts of Burden or Hellboy. Fans of either comic will definitely enjoy this one-shot.
2) Avengers vs. The Pet Avengers #1
Dragons! Frogs! Fing Fang Foom! Oh my! I love the light-hearted nature of The Pet Avengers. This particular issue is action packed but it still is full of humor. I love Ms. Lion. My only question is, why is Fing Fang Foom the only one wearing pants?
3) Duncan The Wonder Dog vol 1 TP
Duncan The Wonder Dog is dense, rich and beautifully drawn. Adam Hines has created a world where animals can think, reason and speak to humans. The book is huge and most definitely worth the $24.95 cover price. This book is thoughtful and though-provoking. I don’t know what else to say except buy this book! Want more info about it? 4) Fantastic Four #584
Spoiler alert! The last page of Fantastic Four #583 has me excited for this issue. Galactus is back! I want to know what Valeria is up to. Has she been in touch with Dr. Doom for a while now? Shouldn’t she be smart enough to know that making deals with him is not a good idea?
5) Action #894
Death comes to Action Comics! I really don’t want to spoil this issue for anyone out there so I will do my best to be vague. I loved the interaction between Death and Lex Luthor and I am curious about the repercussions this issue will have throughout the DCU. Also, Neil Gaiman helped Paul Cornell to write a lot of Death’s dialogue, although he isn’t credited as a writer he is given a special thanks.

I loved the Beasts of Burden/Hellboy crossover. My favorite part was Pugs interacting with Hellboy. "The devil in short pants" was great.
I am going to have to pick up Avengers vs. Pet Avengers based on Fing Fang Foom. I love that he wears pants.
