Shawn Says: Spotlight on New Releases July 8, 2010

In which Shawn looks at the New Releases and lets you know which books she is most excited about!

1) Avengers The Children’s Crusade #1

Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung join forces once again! This 9-issue maxi-series brings together the Young Avengers as they try to track down the Scarlet Witch. The art looks amazing! I am super excited to be reading a Heinberg/Cheung Young Avengers story. It has been way too long.

2) Thor The Mighty Avenger #1

I was thrilled to hear that Roger Langridge was going to be working on a new Thor comic. I was sad to hear that he wasn’t doing the art but I was back up to thrilled when I heard that Chris Samnee was the one doing the art. I love Samnee’s work and I couldn’t think of a better choice!

3) Izombie #3

I know I have talked about this book before but that is because it is awesome. I am really enjoying the whole feel of this book. It has a campy, throwback style that I dig. Can you dig it daddio? But seriously, this is a really well drawn, well written book.

4) House of Mystery #27

Again here is another book that I talk about a lot because it is just so darn good. Matthew Sturges’s writing is highly entertaining and consistently good each issue. As is Luca Rossi’s art. Each issue they do a side story with art from a special guest and in this issue it is Brendan McCarthy. Trippy!

5) Casanova #1

Re-colored and re-lettered for your reading pleasure! Marvel’s Icon imprint is re-printing the first issues of Casanova as they prepare for more stories. If you missed it on the first go-round you should definitely check it out. And I would be remiss to mention that Heroes Aren’t Hard to Find’s very own Dustin Harbin is hand lettering each and every issue!
