Event: Richards 10 Cent Sale

Last weekend to pay for his trip to the San Diego “Comic” Convention Richard held an annual sale.   Adam and Shawn dropped by to take advantage of the 10 for a dollar comics he was pushing from his store basement.  Here is the recap of their tale.

Because I was guilt-tripped at the end of this podcast...

I enjoyed this thoroughly. Hell, I can't say that I've ever been disappointed by the DB. That said, as much as I love the interviews and the panels, I miss fun, rambly episodes like this one.

Furthermore, as much as a married couple discussing comics has the potential to fail and fall into disgustingly-cute back-and-forth, I think Adam and Shawn's banter is highly entertaining and successful. (They should, y'know, get married or something.)

I enjoyed this show as well. I like the mix of what is offered through shows like this one, interviews, etc.. Overall, I like the the theme shows the best usually. I enjoy hearing the group's different opinions/takes on characters/film adaptations/genres, etc. Did I steal somebody's comics?

I can understand you not having heard of Ale (Ah-lay) Garza and Richard Bennett, but not knowing Scott Lobdell I find a bit weird since he did a LOT of X-Men stuff. Anyway, Homage studios basically ended up as Wildstorm. All those guys work for Jim Lee.

Also I'm very surprised that you had never heard of Cadillacs and Dinosaurs....

Also I loved Trencher when it came out ages ago. To a lot of people, Giffen's art on that was indecipherable. Glad you gave it a chance.

Thanks ED
I think Shawn was just picking on you Bradd
Terence, now that's educational

Dinosaurs for Hire is a great series if your 14-15. Gun-toting dinosaurs with busty, tight-bodied women running around. The movie would practically write itself. And do I need to say that I had the first 10 or so issues?
Personally I would like to see more topic-oriented shows such as Marvel vs DC, or trades vs. floppies

Thanks for another great show.
I love 50-, 25-, and 10-cent comics. They make up the bulk of my collection. I think maybe opening up these eps to listeners and your co-podcasters could make for some stuff as well.
Other shows I wanna hear: Spotlights on characters and/or creators (a Dick Grayson show or a Roy Thomas show both spring to mind); Tre; more movie commentaries (Iron Man, Dark Knight, and Star Trek on the good end and the 1990s Captain America, Ghost Rider, and Punisher: War Zone on the "not-so-good" end)

Also, "Purple Wheat." Wow. I googled it. That's for real?! Just... wow.

If Hart to Hart were a podcast about comics.

Another fun show.

Adam loves big breasted women? Does Kitty Pryde know about this?

I too am surprised that you never heard of Cadillacs & Dinosaurs. Its a great, but incomplete story. It is part of what pulled me back into comics when I was a sophomore in college back in '89. I think it one at least one Harvey award. I loved it so much that I wrote them a letter which was printed in issue #11 of Xenozoic Tales.

I've been listening to some of the old-old Dollar Bin Shows. One thing that y'all did back then which you haven't done in quite some time is in-store interviews with customers. You could do it in conjunction with a movie release or maybe one of these big event books, but you should probably have a theme. Given that (at least) two of your regular contributors work at comic shops I would think this probably wouldn't be too tough to do.

Rambly episodes? Great! Interviews? Also great! But please don't tease us too much. Release the hounds! Let's hear some of those interviews you were bragging about.

I just realized he left off the interviews with Bob McLeod as well as Ron Frenz/TomDefalco.
