30 Days of Night - The Movie
Monday, November 5, 2007
It seems like vampires are everywhere this time of year. So we take another look at 30 Days of Night this time at the movie that was number 1 at the box office in its first week of release. What did we think of the flick and more importantly what comics did we read last week? All that and the usual unusual banter on this edition of The Dollar Bin

Went and saw 30 Days of Night opening weekend. I gave it a 7/10. It was enjoyable. But I just didn't think it was scary. I thought it was pretty suspenseful though - in a "wonder-what's-going-to-happen-next" kind of way.
I thought it was suspenseful in a "wonder what they are going to keep from the book" kinda way.
I've never been big on horror in general so I never read the book but I got to support the comic-film thing and it was a pretty cool idea. I wanted MORE suspense though. I wish someone would have gone all Hitchcock on this film (and added some boobs) and this would have been a far better film. When they were hiding in the attic there should have been tension if they were going to be found out. Hell, even a single shot of a vampire looking right at the roof while someone was looking out would have been good.
The vampire girl in the grocery market did freak me out though but I do have one question. The other people did not seem to recognize her so does that mean she came in with the vampires or was she turned?
I think she came with the vampires.
Ha! I read the comic a few days after I saw the movie. I, too, would have like it better if they would have kept Eben and Stella's relationship intact.
I assumed she was from town...good question...
Well they had that whole don't change them. Cut off their heads rule.
True - I guess I assumed she just "got away".
Maybe they just didn't recognize the kid all vamped up?
