Upcoming Event with the Dollar Bin: Charlotte Minicon
On Saturday, January 22, you will find the Dollar Bin at the Charlotte Minicon in Charlotte, NC. Held at the beautiful Palmer Building, the Minicon is a laid back way to kick off the 2011 convention season. Admission is a bargain at just $3.
Several past Dollar Bin guests will be making an appearance including Jason Latour, Chris Brunner, Rich Barrett, and Chrissie Zullo. This Dollar Bin contributor hopes to talk to Jason, Chris, and newest Heroes staff member, Rico Renzi about their collaboration on Loose Ends for Twelve Gauge and to Chrissie about her beautiful Cinderella covers.
Bridgit Scheide, creator of Kindle and Sketch Charlotte member, has yet to grace our show with her lovely presence, but this shall be remedied at the Minicon. Bridgit is an artist you should get to know and we hope to be able to help you do just that.
I don’t know much about Chris Stevens, special guest to the Minicon, other than his HeroesCon 2010 auction piece of Captain America was stunning. The Minicon will be an opportunity to get to know more about the artist behind that gorgeous piece of work.
Also appearing will be Dollar Bin contributor and monster fighter, J. Chris Campbell, former Heroes Creative Director and Diary Comics creator, Dustin Harbin, as well as other local favorites, Sanford Greene, Budd Root, and Andy Smith.
If the guest list isn’t enough to get you out to Charlotte, there will be numerous dealers from the Southeastern area of the country peddling their comic goods and PONY RIDES!!! A comic convention with pony rides? How can anyone say no to that combination? If your cold, dead heart is considering a no, I suggest you stop by the store so that Heroes staff member, Matt “Snaps” Knapik can infect you with his pure joy in describing said pony rides.
The Charlotte Minicon takes place at the Palmer Building located at 2601 E. 7th Street (just down the street from Heroes Aren’t Hard to Find) from 11am to 5pm. We hope to see you there. If you can’t make it out, but want to hear from one of the guests listed above, let us know in the comments and we’ll do our best to get your questions answered.
